VICKY ABNEY  
Welcome to Westlake High School, one of the top public schools in the nation. We have many points of pride: challenging curriculum in academics, the arts, and athletics; focused students; supportive parents; and a generous community.
I teach Mentorship (formerly called ISM, Independent Study Mentorship) in the CTE Department. I love connection, communication, leadership, and helping students prepare for their futures. I have been an Eanes teacher since 1993: Hill Country Middle School from 1993 - 2004; WHS from 2004 - present. I hold two degrees: a BBA in Business Education from Baylor University and a MEd in Instructional Technology from Sam Houston State University. Mentorship curriculum includes elements of professionalism, time management, effective oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, interviewing, and goal setting to help prepare students for success in their mentorship experience, and in life after high school. My goal is to follow each student's progress in the career study, communicate with mentors often, and help students stay committed to the task of building knowledge about the chosen career field.
